The NFL regular season is finally here. We’ve figured out who a few of the referees are for this weekend, but we’re still missing a bunch of them. If you find out, please leave it in the comments section of this post we’ll get it updated.
The list for this week is here. Thanks!

Bill Leavy doing the Steelers-Titans Game? That will be one sided officiating just like when he officiated Super Bowl XL (Steelers-Seahawks.)
jamdawg says
Who is officiating Browns-Vikings?
Zach says

Zach says
Green in New England on Monday, McAulay for the Giants-Skins game, Parry in Cleveland, Riveron in Tampa Bay, Steratore in Baltimore, Triplette in Carolina, Winter in Green Bay.
Mark Carter says
Is it even allowed to review a play simply to verify if a penalty has occurred on said play? Point in question: the blocked FG and runback for touchdown. Then, the booth wanted to review the call for NO OTHER REASON but to count the number of the players. How is this a legitimate move? If it is, then why not review EVERY play simply to see if other penalties are being committed!? Why then even HAVE referees? We can simply have a crew that is responsible for reviewing each and every play from the booth. Really poor job there in Seattle today. Really poor.
S Sinclair says
My question is with the ref in in NY Giants/Washington Redskins game that watched as the Redskins player Moss committed muptiple personal fouls against Webster of the Giants and did not call a penalty until Webster had had enough and retaliated? The ref then proceeded to call a penalty against both teams so that there were no penalties given!!!!! What’s this about? Looks to me like the ref has a preference as to the outcome of the game.
bill says
Mark,
You can review non-judgment calls such 12 men on the field, offsides, etc. In those plays either you have 12 men on the field or you dont either a player is offsides or he isn’t. It’s not like PI which is a judgment call.

Carl Cheffers just made the worst call i have ever seen a ref make by overturning the raiders touchdown before the half. the ball crossed the planes, both feet touched and he still had possession. what was he looking at?
Alvin says
The officiating at Oakland’s Monday night game sucks big time. The reciever had control of the ball all the way to the ground, when his arm made contant with the ground, the ball came out, while in the end zone. With any other team it would have been a no-brainer.
This is just one of many bad calls by NFL referees this first week-end.
Steve says
Yep, Carl Cheffers and crew – Opening 2009 MNF – t’was a TD…just ask the Head Ref for Buffalo-Pats game (see Ben Watson).
Tim says
I would have to agree with Cheffers on that call. By rule, if the receiver is falling to the ground while trying to catch the ball, he must maintain possession of the ball throughout the fall. In this case, the receiver was falling to the ground as he was catching the pass. When he hit the ground the ball came loose, making it an incomplete pass. Cheffers was right on this call, the backjudge should have ruled it an incomplete pass to begin with.
Steve says
The rookie caught the ball in the air, hands on ball, took the two steps, still maintaining ball control and took a front face fall and only then did the ball move. Keywords: caught the ball.
>>>he must maintain possession of the ball throughout the fall.
If you’re not moving the ball around during your steps and the ball still hasn’t moved prior to landing, yep landing then what else can it be but a TD?
What the hell did Ben Watson do when he caught the late TD pass – same thing. However; NE, TD (&reviewed) – OAK, TD reversed.
Tim says
what else could it be?? Apparently an incomplete pass…
also… keywords from the post “caught the ball in the air” which would mean if he fell he would have to maintain possession throughout the fall…which he did not…
