NFL Week 16: Referee Assignments

December 22, 2009 By mike

So far we’ve got Tony Corrente for the Santa Claus Special Friday Night, Ed Hochuli in Cincinnatti, Pete Morelli in Pittsburgh.

Please post anything you find in the comments below.

I’m also trying to find some footage of the Jacobs/Haynesworth fight from last night for a post later today, but I’m not having any luck yet. If anyone finds a link, please email it to me at mlevbb23@yahoo.com. Thanks!

    Ron Winter for Texans/Dolphins.

    Updated, thanks KMG.

Based on the assignments we have, a 7 week rule, and no returns to a venue:
Bill Leavy only eligible for Oakland/Cleveland
John Parry only eligible for Tampa Bay/New Orleans
    Walt Anderson Den/Phi or Stl/Ari
Al Riveron TB/NO, but if Parry has that game he’s only eligible for Stl/Ari, which means Anderson only eligible for Den/Phi
Scott Green Den/Phi or Dal/Was, based on above, gets Dal/Was
Mike Carey would get Car/NYG, Jeff Triplette Min/Chi

Here’s what I have going off if indeed Leavy is in Cleveland.

Buffalo at Atlanta – Boger, Cheffers
Seattle at Green Bay – D. Carey, Cheffers, McAulay, Steratore
Jacksonville at New England – Boger, D. Carey, Cheffers
Tampa Bay at New Orleans – Boger, Parry, Riveron
Carolina at N.Y. Giants – M. Carey, Cheffers, Green, Triplette
St. Louis at Arizona – Anderson, Cheffers, Riveron
Detroit at San Francisco – M. Carey, Coleman, Steratore
N.Y. Jets at Indianapolis – D. Carey, Coleman, McAulay, Steratore
Denver at Philadelphia – Anderson, M. Carey, Green
Dallas at Washington – D. Carey, Green, Parry
Minnesota at Chicago – D. Carey, McAulay, Triplette

      OFF – Cheffers, Coleman, Green

No, he did OAK@CLE, so he won’t referee the Monday night finale in the Windy City.

  8. mike says

    December 23, 2009 at 7:02 pm

    Updated, thanks guys!

With the updates posted per above, 7 week rule, no return venues, it seems to me the following should happen:
Scott Green – Off (not eligible for any remaining games)
    Walt Anderson – Stl/Ari
Al Riveron – TB/NO (only had left this game and Stl/Ari)
Jerome Boger – Buf/Atl (only had left this game and TB/NO)
Carl Cheffers – Car/NYG (only one left eligible for this game)

    Leaves the following
    Sea/GB – McAulay or Steratore
    Det/SF – Coleman or Steratore
NYJ/Ind – Coleman or McAulay or Steratore

If Steratore in Ind, Coleman in SF, McAulay in GB
If McAulay in Ind, Steratore in GB, Coleman in SF
If Coleman in Ind, Steratore in SF, McAUlay in GB

  9. Ryan says

    December 23, 2009 at 8:07 pm

This isn’t for sure, but I’ve heard Steratore is in San Francisco. Anybody confirm that?

  10. Matt Rafferty says

    December 24, 2009 at 10:55 am

McAulay in Indy and Coleman in San Francisco….confrimed

  11. russ says

    December 24, 2009 at 11:51 am

I belive that puts Steratore in Green Bay and either Cheffers or Green in New York.

  12. mike says

    December 24, 2009 at 12:06 pm

    Added, thanks!

    Any confirmation on:
    Walt Anderson – St Louis/Arizona
Al Riveron – Tampa Bay/New Orleans
    Jerome Booger – Buffalo/Atlanta
    Carl Cheffers – Carolina/NY Giants
    Gene Steratore – Seattle/Green Bay
    Scott Green – OFF

I’m pretty sure this is the only way it can go.

  13. russ says

    December 24, 2009 at 12:11 pm

Can’t Green also be in New York though?

    • Shane Spencer says

      December 27, 2009 at 6:34 pm

      He was.

  14. mike says

    December 24, 2009 at 1:22 pm

Green had Carolina in Week 9, which using a 7 week rule would eliminate him.

  15. russ says

    December 24, 2009 at 2:31 pm

    9 and 16 is 7 weeks

  16. Matt Rafferty says

No – to Bill & Behind The Football Stripes. It is not speculation that site. Behind The Football Stripes is never wrong. Where did you get that information?

  19. TC says

Is there a refree website so I can write a petetion against them

  20. ncref says

    December 27, 2009 at 4:21 pm

It looked like the Illegal Contact call in the Pittsburgh/Baltimore game was a bad call. The QB was outside of the pocket when the receiver was contacted, which takes Illegal Contact out. Morelli’s crew had a so so game, caught a couple of penalties away from the play that were correct and excellent to catch, but missed an obvious pass interference against Heap that was a big miss.

  21. Shane Spencer says

    December 27, 2009 at 4:33 pm

Bill Leavy was the referee for the BUF@ATL game; Walt Coleman was the referee for the SEA@GB game; Scott Green was the referee for the CAR@NYG game; Jerome Boger was the referee for the TB@NO game; there has to be some corrections on who refereed the Week 16 games.

  22. Shane Spencer says

    December 27, 2009 at 4:47 pm

Walt Anderson is doing the DET@SF game.

  23. mike says

My apologies for the delay in making the changes/updates this weekend. My work schedule had me going 12 hour days the last 3 days and tomorrow along with holiday gatherings. It should be correct now, hope everyone had a great holiday!
