Hi all –
As the Cowboys visit the Giants tonight to begin the 2012-13 season, I find myself highly conflicted.
The replacement officials concern me greatly. I have expressed these concerns to varying degrees, mostly in more private forums such as email.
I won’t get into those concerns here. Ultimately, it comes down to this: I’ve been trying to decide how active to be in determining crew assignments and putting them up, whilst the replacements are in use.
My original decision was to not be involved at all, but after spending much time thinking it over, I will put up what I know – albeit likely later in the week than I normally would.
I’m hoping that this lockout is resolved, both sooner-than-later and fairly. Either way, I hope everyone enjoys the new football season! I certainly will.

Hi Preth,
Thank you…. I of course not looking forwared to the NFL Season… I am for the NCAA Football. If the NFL Keeps going with the Replacement Referees… I am going to Cancel DirecTV and NFL Sunday Ticket and go with Verizon Fios TV. I already have Verizon internet and landline. I want the Real Zebras on the field.. that is what I am paying for.

I will not watch another NFL game until they can get someone who is qualified to call a game!

The one thing I have noticed about the replacement referees is that they have no bias to who the home team is. The games have been called the way it should be called and shouldn’t be influenced by where they’re playing. The referees who have been calling games for years are highly influenced by the home team and it shows by the way their crews call the game. Is it me or do others see this too?

If anything, it’s the other way around. One established issue with replacements is that they are easily intimidated. One source of intimidation – the players/coaches, whether those from the home or road team. Another, the fans – usually belonging overwhelmingly to the home team.
I don’t think it’s a major issue by any means. However, home teams are off to a dominant start. 13-2 so far in Week 2, 22-9 overall. I’d argue it’s not 100% coincidence.

I believe if they don’t get the NFL Refs back on the field, the teams are going to kill each other. The coaches and players are getting so frustrated they’re taking it out on each other. The calls are so terrible. It’s truly frustrating!!!!

The Packer game was a dissapointment. Both teams played hard, but to lose by referee #26 making. An unbelievable call while right on top of the play is unexcuseable. This sad decision could be very critical at the end of the season. I couldn’t be more dissapointed in the games out come.

I would just like to start off by saying these replacement refs suck. They made more terrible calls in the Greenbay, Seatle game then right ones. Not only did they blatantly failed on the last call of the game, they shouldn’t have called pass interference on Greenbay on the interception. That was total B.S.
