Hello NFL,
I am Cooper Ashcraft, I am currently watching the Patriots versus Chiefs game on 12/8/19. About five minutes into the 4th quarter the Patriots are almost in the Redzone. Tom Brady throws about a five pass to N’Keal Harry, he runs it, breaks two tackles and dives into the end zone for a touchdown. But the touchdown is called back because the Referee who is on the sideline right next to play calls Harry out of bounds, but after watching the replay Harry is clearly still in bounds, yet the Patriots are unable to to challenge the call because they are out of challenges. The Patriots are unable to to score a touchdown and are held to a field goal. The referees wrong call costs the Patriots four point that they desperately need when trying to come back by being down ten points. That is a serious flaw by the referee because he was right next to the play and still made the wrong call. The officiating this season has been atrocious, not only for the Patriots but for every team. The referee either must have better training or, the NFL must utilize a virtual referee who has the ability to overturn calls. They have this in the NHL, with the referees being able to go back and look for offsides after goals are scored. They also have a virtual referee in soccer which is used in the World Cup. The referees inability to make the correct calls this whole season has greatly impacted the fans. Football in the is a form of entertainment, you do not want to keep losing your viewers because of poor officiating. The sport it self is the greatest sport in the the world it’s only flaw is it’s terrible officiating. You have old men trying to keep up with young, fast, explosive athletes. Football is the fastest sport in the world you need referees who can keep up with the game. If they cannot keep up with the sport they need the ability to be able to look over their calls and have the ability to over turn their calls when they make mistakes
Hi NFL,
This is Cooper Ashcraft again, the officiating of the Patriots Chiefs game on 12/8/19 costed the Patriots the game from the Travis Kelce fumble which was whistled down before Gilmore was allowed to run, to the the N’Keal Harry Touchdown being called back and finally to the defensive pass interference on Philip Dorsett that was not called. The Patriot were unable to challenge any of those plays because they ran out of challenges. All those plays were mistakes committed by the officiating crew. This on going trend is ruining the fans experience of watching NFL games. Something must be done from better training of referees, to better younger referees who can follow the fast play of the game, or even a virtual referee who is able to overturn calls.
